Cabinetry and Furniture Restoration

I love the old well made hand crafted cabinetry and furniture. Sometimes the old furniture needs a little TLC to bring it back to or remodel to make it functional for todays needs. Here you find some of the heirlooms I had worked on.

This classic cabinet came from New Brunswick and was originally painted with a white enamel paint. After stripping, I discovered the main cabinet was built using solid Cherry. I added a slatted paneled back that is made up of solid 5/8″ pine boards, with ship-lap joinery to connect each panel, and each panel is screwed (no glue) to the back of the cabinet frame. This method of building and attaching the back was used so that the panels could be removed and modified for custom storage requirements as needed.

The back panel was finished by first applying a wood conditioner, as pine blotches when stained. The cabinet was then finished with a Cherry gel stain and top coated with several coats of satin wipe-on poly.

Thank you for looking.
