Playing with Jo Sonja's Iridescent paints and texture on a bowl

April 7, 2018

I had another piece of Ash to make a new bowl, so I decided to try out my large Crown texturing tool and some Jo Sonja's Iridescent paints.

I have done texturing before using the same texture wheel on a peppermill that I have pictures of on my website. In that one I added some black Gesso to the texture and then lightly sanded the texture area to remove the Gesso on the top of the texture thus leaving only the Gesso that was deposited in the valleys of the texture.  In this case though I used paint brushes and applied each colour randomly around the textured rim. The effect was to paint in the direction of the texture, and to cover the texture with all the paints.

Here is the video, so sit back and enjoy
